Today’s Friday Find does not come from my paper files. Instead it comes from an Experimental Search. I was searching for records of Elizabeth Barr, wife of James Steele. When I narrowed the search to Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, I found a deed between Isaac C. Steele and Mariah his wife and Elizabeth Steele, widow of James Steele deceased of the first part and Robert Liddell of the second part.
Unfortunately, I don’t know that the Elizabeth Steele in the deed is Elizabeth Barr Steele. Thus, I’m hoping that by sharing the deed, some STEELE researcher will be able to figure out who the parties are and then attach this deed to the FamilySearch tree.

This Indenture made the Twenty Seventh day of February in the year of our Lord , One Thousand Eight Hundred and Isa Seventy Two
Between Isaac . C. Steele and his wife Mariah and Elizabeth Steele widow
of James Steele decd all of Perry Township Armstrong County Pennsylvania
parties of the first part and Robert Liddell of the City of Pittsburgh County of
Allegheny and aforesaid party
second part Witnesseth, that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of
Six Thousand Six hundred Dollars $ 6600 , lawful money of the United States of America ,
unto them well and truly paid by the said part of the second part, at or before the sealing and delivery
of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed ,
released , conveyed and confirmed , and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release convey
and confirm unto the said party of the second part his – heirs and assigns , forever all the
following described property viz : Situate in the Township of Perry County of Armstrong
and State of Pennsylvania Bounded and described as follows to wit : Beginning
at a post thence b land of Thomas Evans due East one hundred and ninety
and four tenth perches to a post, thence by land of Isaac B Binkard south
Two and one half degrees west seventy six and Eight-tenth perches to a post
thence by Jacob Steele north Seventy Seven and three fourth degrees west one
hundred and ninety Two and Seven tenth perches to a post and thence by Land
of George Shakely North two degrees East thirty six perches to the Beginning
containing Sixty Six acres and one hundred and forty six perches strict measure
which by sundry Releases and quit – claim deeds heirs of all the other heirs of
James Steele Late of Perry Township deceased – as well as by a decree of
the orphans Court Armstrong County became vested in the said
Isaac . C. Steele one of the present Grantors, and Elizabeth Steele one
of the present Grantors Releases all Dower or Dowers and [Recognizen as]
That now is or may be on Record in the orphans Court in her favor whatsoever
and there having been a patent Granted to the said Isaac . C. Steele
and Jacob Steele jointly by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in pursu
ance of a warrant dated fifth day of August AD 1871 and patent issued
to the said Jacob Steele and Isaac . C. State jointly, dated the 9th day of
September AD 1811 Enrolled in Patent Book S & Vol 68 Page 682 – and the said
Jacob Stale Released and conveyed the within described sixty six acres and
one hundred and Forty six perches to the Isaac C Steele one of the present
Grantors by Deed dated the 23d day of February AD 1872 duly signed sealed
and acknowledgedpage 159
Together with all and singular the Buildings Improvements, Ways, Waters, Water-
Courses, Rights, Liberties, Privileges, Hereditaments and Appurtenances , whatsoever thereunto belonging or in
anywise appertaining; and the revisions and Remainders, Rents, Issues and Profits thereof and all the
estate, right, title, interest, property, claim and demand whatsoever of the said parties of the first part in law,
equity or otherwise however, of, in and to the same and every part, thereof, to have and to hold the said
Sixty six acres and one hundred and forty six perches
Hereditaments and Premises hereby granted or mentioned, and intended so to be with the appurtenances, unto
the said party of the second part his Heirs and Assigns, to and for the only proper use and behoof
of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, forever,
And Isaac . C. Steele and Mariah his wife and Elizabeth Steele widow of James Steele deceased
the said parties of the first part for their heirs , Executors and Administrators
do by these presents , covenant , grant and agree to and with the said party of the second part his
Heirs and Assigns that they , the said parties of the first part their Heirs all and singular , the Hereditaments
and Premises herein above described and granted or mentioned and intended so to be with the Appurtenances
unto the said party of the second part his Heirs and Assigns against them , the said parties of the
first part, and their Heirs , and against all and every other Person or Persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or
to claim the same of any part thereof :
SHALL AND WILL WARRANT AND FOREVER DEFEND .
